Owner and MD of civil and structural construction engineering firm, McFarland Associates, who has been awarded a three year Visiting Professorship at Queen’s University Belfast (Royal Academy of Engineers). He will be delivering a series of lectures to students at all levels within the Civil Engineering course, focusing on “Managing ageing infrastructure and structural health monitoring in Civil Engineering”.

World renowned engineer visits Belfast

One of the world’s most respected and renowned composite engineers recently visited Northern Ireland to give a lecture on his work.

Organised by Ulster University and hosted at the Northern Ireland Advanced Composites and Engineering Centre (NIACE) in Belfast, over 50 of Northern Ireland’s most senior engineers from academia and industry came to hear from Stephen W. Tsai, emeritus professor at Stanford University, USA, who has dedicated his entire career to composites research and whose theories and calculations he invented are used to this day.

ADS hold Members’ Reception

The ADS trade body held a members’ reception earlier this week to allow key players in the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors to network and discuss opportunities arising from the launch of the Northern Ireland Partnering for Growth strategy, which aims to secure the future prosperity of the Northern Ireland in these key sectors.  Over 50 companies from engineering, research, recruitment and education were represented at the event.
