‘A’ level Engineering pupils from the Boys Model recently visited the NIACE Centre at Airport Rd.
The Northern Ireland Advanced Composites and Engineering Centre is a technology hub for the
research and development of advanced engineering and advanced materials technologies across a
range of industrial sectors, including aerospace, environment and transport. The group of boys got
a tour of the facilities and were able to see first hand advanced research being carried out by the
10 member companies. They were shown round by centre manager Dr Scott King, himself a
former pupil of the school. They are pictured at the centre with teachers Laurence Leaney
and Hugh Stevenson. Dr King is centre.
