NIACE and ADS working together to grow NI Industry

25th April 2013: The Northern Ireland Advanced Composites Engineering centre (NIACE) has

welcomed national trade body ADS as an associate participant, which both organisations hope will

		be a mutually beneficial partnership.

ADS is the trade body for the Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space industries,  The

organisation is the first of its kind to become an associate participant of NIACE which currently

has eight other participant companies and two university research partners carrying out advanced

		research and development.

Leslie Orr, Manager of ADS in Northern Ireland said, “ADS has 55 member companies in

Northern Ireland, which together contribute over £1billion to the Northern Ireland economy.

With ADS working in conjunction with NIACE, we hope to develop long term strategies that will

assist and support the important sectors we represent.”

Dr Scott King, General Manager of NIACE explained, “The vision and values of both organisations

are very similar in that we want the manufacturing sector in Northern Ireland to grow its capabilities

and be able to compete globally. This partnership with ADS has the potential to get so many more

companies involved in research and development of advanced materials technologies across a

range of industrial sectors.  There are fabulous business and funding opportunities available and

by taking this joined up approach, we believe we can demonstrate the skills in this sector in

		Northern Ireland to the full.”

Leslie concluded, “We want to see this sector grow in Northern Ireland and what better way to do it

than to work collaboratively with other organisations, representing the interests of small and large

companies alike.  We look forward to exploring these opportunities with NIACE.”
